Sukhothai
El reino El reino de Sukhothai, antiguo reino del centro-norte de Tailandia, fue fundado a mediados del s. XIII cuando un gobernante local thai lideró una revuelta contra el dominio jmer. Fue sólo una pequeña potencia local hasta que su tercer rey, Rama Kamheng, heredó el trono c. 1279 y extendió su poderío hasta abarcar la península de Malaca por el sur, lo que hoy es Myanmar (Birmania) por el oeste y el actual Laos por el nordeste. A su muerte, en 1298, el reino comenzó a declinar y en 1438 fue aborbido por el reino de Ayutthaya.
